Israel strikes Gaza mosque and school, resulting in 26 fatalities; further evacuations are ordered.

Dozens of Palestinians have been killed and injured as the Israeli army issues new evacuation orders for northern Gaza.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 26 Palestinians lost their lives and many more were wounded when Israeli forces attacked a mosque and a school sheltering displaced individuals in Deir el-Balah. “The number of martyrs brought to hospitals due to the occupation's targeting of displaced people at the Ibn Rushd school and al-Aqsa Martyrs Mosque reached 26, with several others injured,” the ministry stated.

In the last 24 hours, the ministry reported that the Israeli forces have committed three massacres in the Gaza Strip, leading to a total of 45 deaths and 256 injuries. Since the conflict began a year ago, the overall death toll has climbed to 41,870, with over 97,000 Palestinians reported injured.

The Israeli military claimed, without providing evidence, that both the mosque and the school were being used by Hamas as “command and control” centers.

Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reported from the site of the attacked mosque, noting that the building was “severely” damaged.
